Genesius Theatre presents ‘Disney’s Aristocats KIDS’ Jan. 26-29

READING >> Based on the beloved Disney animated film, and featuring a jazzy, upbeat score, “Disney’s The Aristocats KIDS” is a nonstop thrill ride of feline fun, complete with unbelievab­le twists and turns.

In the heart of Paris, a kind and eccentric millionair­ess wills her entire estate to Duchess, her highsociet­y cat, and her three little kittens. Laughs and adventure ensue as the greedy, bumbling butler pulls off the ultimate catnap caper. Now it’s up to the rough-and-tumble alley cat, Thomas O’Malley, and his band of swingin’ jazz cats to save the day.

“Disney’s Aristocats Kids” features music and lyrics by Richard M. Sherman, Robert B. Sherman, Al Rinker and Floyd Huddleston. Music adapted and arranged and additional music and lyrics by Bryan Louiselle and the book adapted and additional lyric by Michael Bernard, Based on the 1970 Disney film, The Aristocats.

The show is being directed by Julia Elberfeld, music directed by Dara Himes, choreograp­hed by Meghan Austin, with stage management by Mamie Covell, a senior, at the Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Performing Arts in Bethlehem.

The leading cast members include: Thomas O’Malley - Baylor Kobularcik, Duchess - Bridget Ottinger, Toulouse - Caitlin Paige, Berlioz - Sophia Ottinger, Marie - Brindley Kobularcik, Roquerfort Madelyn Suppa, Edgar Maggie Conlon, Madame - Marlee Fraser, General Napoleon - Cole Sensenig, Private Lafayette - Sedona Loose, Amelia - Gwen Ellington, Abigail - Gretchen Himlin, Scat Cat - Sarah Anderson. The musical also features a cast of 20 youngsters.

“Disney’s Aristocats KIDS” runs for one weekend only. It opens Thursday, Jan. 26 at 7:30 p.m. and runs Jan. 27 at 7:30 p.m., Jan. 28 at 3, 5 and 7:30 p.m. and Jan. 29 at 3 and 5 p.m. at Genesius Theatre, 153 North 10th St., Reading, PA 19601. Tickets range $17.50 to $20. Tickets may also be available for purchase at the door on the day of the event. The show is GRated.
