-

Tracy Letts’ Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award Winning play “August: Osage County” will explode onto the Genesius Theatre stage Wednesday, April 26 through April 30 at the 10th and Walnut Theatre in Reading. The dramedy is directed by Marjory Ewald, opening

August: Osage County shook audiences to their core when it first exploded onto the American stage. A vanished father. A pillpopping mother. Three sisters harboring shady little secrets. When the large Weston family unexpectedly reunites after Dad disappears, their Oklahoman family homestead explodes in a maelstrom of repressed truths and unsettling secrets. Mix in Violet, the drugged-up, scathingly acidic matriarch, and you’ve got a play that unflinchingly—and uproariously—exposes the dark underbelly of the modern American family.

Tracy Letts’ dark comedy is an acidic and acerbic take on the juicy American family drama.

The Genesius cast is chockfull of local veteran talent, some of the best in the region.

The cast includes Kathleen Godwin as Violet, Kirk Lawrence as Beverley, Amy Hudak as Barbara,

Jeffrey Fleming as Bill, Mandy Maiers as Jean, Kelly Schmehl as Ivy, Laura Jones as Karen, Kimmie Fetters as Mattie Faye, Apollo Loose as Charlie, James Haggerty as Little Charlie, Hunter Willow Jones as Joanna, Nathan Matz as Steve and Mike Harbach as the Sheriff.

The play is stage managed by Lydia Forsythe. The set is designed by Brandon Kegerize & Spencer Fecho, the lights are designed by Spencer Fecho, David Neel and Julia Elberfeld, and the sound is designed by Albert Garcia. The set is built by John Bigos and Betty Gerstner.
