DOUGLASS (BERKS) » The body of a woman reported missing from her Douglass Township home Friday was discovered Monday morning, putting a tragic end to a weekend-long search, authorities confirmed.

Natividad Nina Salamone, 55, went missing from her home along the first 100 block of Township Line Road on Friday at approximately 6:30 p.m., according to police.

Salamone was last seen wearing a red or orange bright colored shirt, multi colored spandex pants and white sneakers. She had a history of mental health issues, according to police.

On Monday morning, Pennsylvania State Police, the Douglass Township Police Department and the Berks County Coroner’s Office were called to the J&L Building Materials Inc. Showroom and Design Center after a body was discovered.

A worker at the business at 1421 Benjamin Franklin Highway just off the Route 422 bypass, told a source at the scene that workers were moving packages of roofing shingles behind the business around 7:30 a.m. Monday when they discovered the body, adding that they couldn’t tell based on the positioning of the body if it was a man or woman. They backed out of the scene and called police.

State police later positively identified to WFMZTV that the remains were of Salamone. The cause of death has not yet been determined. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday morning.

As the search continued Monday, Facebook user Senovia Cintron wrote that Salamone was her mother. She said the missing woman spoke Spanish and English in an effort to help the search process.

“Please pray and help us find my mother,” she said.
