Vehicle crash damages utility pole

POTTSTOWN » A vehicle crash involving a telephone pole left a road shut down for several hours as PECO made repairs.

Officers were called to the scene of an accident at 8:03 a.m. July 21 at the intersecti­on of Manatawny and Spring streets, according to a press release from Pottstown police.

Police said upon arrival it was determined that the road had been closed following a crash in which a vehicle struck a telephone pole.

PECO was called to the scene to replace the pole which posed a hazard in its weakened condition, police said.

Police said the driver, identified as Salvadore Segnere Jr., had become distracted by something he dropped and was trying to retrieve. As a result, the vehicle left the road striking the pole.

As of 1 p.m. July 21, Manatawny Street remained closed at the scene while PECO continued to work.

No injuries were reported.

In addition to Pottstown Police, PECO and Pottstown Fire Department responded to the scene.
