Girls hoops gets first win

ERTS42» On the same night it recognized its 2016 PIAA 6A championsh­ip team, Boyertown got its first win of the season.

The Bears were sparked by Julia Smith’s 16 points, all of which came in the second half as they rallied from down 23-20 at halftime thanks in part to an eight-point advantage in the third quarter (135). Kylie Webb and Amber Marburger added 10 and 9 points, respective­ly.

For OJR, Diana Rantz and Olivia Leclaire each scored 11.

TOWN 43 » Sean Praweckyj and Dawson Stuart combined for 29 points to key the Wildcats’ PAC Liberty Division victory over the Bears.

Praweckyj had 15 points, one more than Stuart’s 14, as Roberts opened a 32-23 lead through three quarters. The loss for Boyertown came despite Jerry Kapp hitting for a gamehigh 25 points.

The Berks East Gymnastics Levels 4-9 and the Xcel Platinum Optional team recently competed at the PA Judges Cup hosted by KMC Gymnastics in Kennett Square this past weekend December 15th17th.

Level 9 took first place, Level 5 took 3rd place in the team competitio­ns. Individual Results: Level 9, Age 14 and up: Elizabeth Romano place first All Around (AA), first on bars and beam, vault and floor second; Nicole Fisher placed second AA, vault first, balance beam second, f loor third; Lexi Smith placed third A A, first on f loor, second on vault and balance beam; Jamie Moser placed second on bars; Abby Grillo placed third on vault and bars.

Level 8, Age 13 and un- der: Sarah Pastor placed second AA, 1st floor, third vault and beam and fourth on bars; Lilly Turnquist placed fifth on vault. 14 and up: Caitlin Ewing placed 5th AA, 3rd vault and 6th bars; Erin Kurian placed sixth vault; Kamryn Zisk placed 5th on bars.

Level 7, Age 12 and under: Mandie Lewis place fourth on vault; Abby DiMarino placed fourth on bars. Age 13 and over: Lauryn Moddrell place first A A, 1st f loor, 2nd vault, third beam; Hannah Kocur placed second AA, 2nd beam, 4th bars, 5th vault; Hailee Oswald placed 3rd AA, 2nd floor, 3rd beam, 4th bars; Bridget Sweeney placed fourth AA and first on beam; Caitie Lewis placed first on vault; Dana Moss placed third on vault and fourth on floor; Kayla Foster placed fifth on beam; Chloe Mirack placed fifth on floor.

Excel Platinum, Age 11 and under: Lucy Cerimele placed first AA, first vault, bars and floor; Maya Smith placed second vault. Age 12 and over: Carissa Foster placed first AA, vault and bars, third beam and 6th floor; Reilly Spinrad placed Second A A, first beam and floor, third bars; Lindsay Schrof placed 6th vault.

Level 5, Age 10 and younger: Troi Minor placed fifth AA, beam and f loor and sixth on bars; Natalie Brach placed fifth on bars and 6th on vault; Leah Pritt placed fifth on vault. Age 11 and up: Abriella Waige placed second A A and bars, third on vault and fourth on floor; Carson Gallagher placed sixth AA and fifth on floor.

Level 4, Age 9 and under: Rayannah Dukes placed fifth on vault. Age 10 and up: Addison Ford place second AA, third on beam, fourth on vault and floor.
