Webb leads Bears to winning week

Boyertown senior stars in girls basketball team’s 3-0 run

Girls basketball

Kylie Webb was, on two counts, the scoring leader for the Boyertown girls basketball team Friday.

Webb netted a game-high 14 points for the Bears in their Pioneer Athletic Conference divisional crossover game with Upper Merion. She also led the scoring in the critical overtime period, helping Boyertown come away with a 44-35 victory.

Webb scored seven in the extra frame — one forced by UM forcing a 31-31 regulation-time tie. Victoria Boalton kicked in with another 10 points for Boyertown while Jordan Wilson had 12 to head Upper Merion.

BOYERTOWN 32, NORRISTOWN 22 » The Bears rallied from a first-quarter deficit to pull away for victory over the Eagles in their PAC Liberty Division game on Jan. 10.

Kylie Webb scored 10 points to lead Boyertown, with Tori Boalton and Brynn Schmidt each adding nine.

BOYERTOWN 51, POTTSGROVE 36 » Kylie Webb knocked down four 3-pointers on the way to a game-high 18 points in leading the Lady Bears to a PAC divisional crossover win against the Falcons on Jan. 9.

Julia Smith added 14 points, including a pair of 3-pointers while Victoria Boalton scored 10 as Boyertown jumped out to a 2616 lead by the half. Riley Simon led Pottsgrove with 10 points while Summer Walker and Sierra Potts each had seven.

BOYERTOWN 58, POTTSGROVE 54 » Jerry Kapp’s hot long-distance shooting netted him game scoring honors, and a victory for the Bears in their PAC divisional crossover game with the Falcons on Jan. 9.

Kapp got all but three of his 21 counters from 3-point range, heading a trio of double-figure Bears that included Chris Kiefer (13) and Zach Benning (10). Khaliym Smith had 15 points, and Jason Hein 13, to lead Pottsgrove as it cut down Boyertown’s 2920 halftime advantage.

BOYERTOWN AT UPPER MERION PPD. » The PAC divisional crossover game between the Bears and Vikings was postponed Friday, due to moisture from humidity on the UM gym floor. The game has been reschedule­d for Wednesday, Jan. 31.

Wrestling

BOYERTOWN 56, POTTSTOWN 14 » The Bears offset the Trojans’ strength in the lower weights by dominating the upper weights in their PAC divisional crossover match on Jan. 11.

Boyertown got pins from Zak Reck (220), Julien Maldonado (106), Brendan Smith (113), Chase Stehman (120) and Brett Breidor (145), in addition to a technical fall from Evan Mortimer (160), as it padded an initial 27-point lead on understaff­ed Pottstown. The Trojans’ points came in a three-bout swing from 126 to 138, Demond Thompson with a pin at 132 and Nathanael Parson at 138.

BOYERTOWN 69, UPPER MERION 9 » The Bears had their way with the Vikings in their contested matches on the way to a PAC divisional crossover win on Jan. 10.

Chase Stehman (120), Connor Neiswender (132), Ethan Himes (138) and Broc Babb (152) all posted pins while Jacob Miller posted a 20-3 technical fall over Anthony Swenda during their bout at 182 and Brett Breidor posted a 15-2 major decision at 145. Boyertown also benefitted from six forfeits. Marc Clayton posted UM’s lone pin, getting the slap at 1:16 during the 285-pound bout.

Swimming

Boyertown’s swim program left Ursinus College with a pair of wins Wednesday night following their Pioneer Athletic Conference meet with Spring-Ford.

On the boys side, the Bears posted a tight 87-83 win while the Lady Bears held on to claim an 89-81 win over the Rams.

Owen Miller was part of four first-place finishes for Boyertown, touching first in the 50-yard freestyle (22.60) and 100 fly (54.08) while also anchoring both the 200 medley relay (1:39.68) and 200 free relay (1:30.58). Nolan Benner was part of both relays and also picked up an individual win as he touched first in the 100 breast with a time of 1:02.92. Spring-Ford’s Carson Hilliard was a triple-winner for Spring-Ford, taking firsts in the 200 free (1:51.98) and 100 free (49.16) while swimming the first leg of the 400 free relay (3:24.55).

As for the girls, Teresa Draves posted an individual win with a 1:04.10 in the 100 fly and also appeared in the top-finishing 200 free relay (1:41.95) and the 400 free relay (3:46.77). Gabrielle McKee was part of both relays and also took an individual first in the 200 IM (2:12.81). Katherine Parker had a pair of top finishes for Spring-Ford, taking first in the 200 free (1:58.85) and the 100 back (1:01.21).

BOYERTOWN 97, POTTSGROVE 33 » Aaron Keifer and Owen Miller each figured in on three firsts the Bears scored in their PAC meet with the Falcons.

Keifer (200 free, 2:02.10) and Miller (100 free, 50.04) also swam legs of Boyertown’s three winning relays: Miller the anchor of the 200 medley (1:50.75) and 200 free (1:37.10), Keifer the 200 free and 400 free (3:54.33). Patrick Agnew was a two-event winner for Pottsgrove, taking the 50 free (22.63) and the 100 back (1:03.82).

Girls swimming

BOYERTOWN 86, POTTSGROVE 65 » Madison Tyson won two individual races to lead the Bears in their PAC meet with the Falcons.

Tyson headed the 200 free (2:10.28) and the 100 fly (1:12.41) while Boyertown got other firsts from Angie Nelson in the 200 IM (2:26.87), Emily Drabick in the 50 free (26.14), Hannah Shaner in the 100 free (57.56) and Gabrielle McKee in the 500 free (5:23.06). Winning races for Pottsgrove were Victoria Keener (100 back, 1:18.22) and Sammi Scheiderma­n (100 breast, 1:30.09).
