Art Talk: Jim Ulrich, a mixedmedia artist and a member of the Dumpster Divers of Philadelphia, will show examples of his mixed-media assemblages and sculptures Tuesday, March 20, from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Boyer Gallery at the Hill School Center for the Arts at 760 Beech St., Pottstown. Ulrich will explain how the found objects catalyze an idea and describe the varied processes and materials employed to refine those ideas into a final piece. Pottstown Area Artists Guild is sponsoring this talk. This event is free and open to the public.
Spring Bazaar: The annual Spring Bazaar will be held at Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, 1236 Juniper St. Pottstown, Saturday, March 24, from 8 a.m. to noon. Customers can purchase Easter breads, nut rolls, pierogi, holupki (stuffed cabbage) and halushki (buttered noodles). Homemade chocolates and other baked goods and soup will be available. All food items are takeout only. The bazaar will feature gift basket raffles and a large flea market. On-site parking is available. High School Art Exhibition:
Students from 14 high schools in Montgomery, Chester and Berks counties are showing their artwork at Montgomery County Community College’s fifth annual Tri-County High School Art Exhibition and Competition in the college’s Fine Arts Gallery, North Hall, 16 High St. Pottstown. The exhibition features 130 pieces in an array of media, including paintings, drawings, photography, digital photography and design, ceramics and mixed-media, three-dimensional works. The exhibit is free, open to the community and continues through March 31.
Good Night at the Manor:
Uncover the evening work and routines of the Potts family and their household staff with the new exhibit Good Night at the Manor, which will run through Sunday, Nov. 11, at Pottsgrove Manor, 100 W. King St., Pottstown. Tours of the exhibit will be given during regular museum hours. Admission is free, but donations are appreciated. Club: meets on the first Friday of each month at St. James Lutheran Church, 1101 E. PMMC Offering Free Child Care Safety Check:
Pottstown Memorial Medical Center is offering free car seat safety checks on the third Friday of every month from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Goodwill Ambulance Company, 714 E. High St., Pottstown. Child Certified Passenger Safety Technicians and trained volunteers will check child car seats for: recalls and damage; best fit for weight, height, and age; and will teach installation techniques. Celebrate Recovery:
The newest ministry at Hopewell Community Church, 1130 Commerce Drive, Pottstown, will “Celebrate Recovery” through meetings every Wednesday at 7 p.m. Celebrate Recovery deals with Hurts, Hang Ups, and yes Habits. It is a twelve step program, unlike other programs we know who our “higher power” is, the one and only God and it is biblically based. We will honor Jesus and Praise Him. All of the studies will emphasize forgiveness and salvation. The “Eight Principles” are based on the Beatitudes for the purpose of leading all who attend on the path toward recovery.
