POTTSTOWN » Four people were interviewed April 10 for a job that has no pay, requires long hours and often results in people disliking you more than when you started.

The folks conducting the interviews were members of the Pottstown School Board and the people they were interviewing all applied to fill the vacancy on that board left by the resignation of Ron Williams last month.

Two former school board members — Kim Stilwell and Thomas Hylton — were joined by Madison Morton and David Miller in applying for the post.

Both Hylton and Miller ran for a seat on the board — and lost — in the November elections.

Stilwell, who served as school board president, did not seek re-election after one four-year term.

Morton is the former athletic director at both the former St. Pius X High School and Boyertown Area Senior High School.

Miller is a lawyer and former member of Pottstown Borough Council.

Hylton served two terms on the school board, also served on the Pottstown Planning Commission and won a Pulitzer Prize while an editorial writer for The Mercury, where he still publishes his own columns.

No votes were taken after the interviews were concluded.

Rather, the board will vote at the next scheduled meeting on April 19.
