Boy­er­town ju­nior McComb wins Northamp­ton In­vi­ta­tional

Chris­tian McComb headed the boys field in the Northamp­ton In­vi­ta­tional Satur­day, run­ning a solid 5,000 to best a fin­ish­ing or­der of more than 200 com­peti­tors.

McComb cov­ered the course in 16:00.59, lead­ing Eas­ton Area run­ner-up Joseph Oz­gar (16:10.81) by more than 10 sec­onds. The Boy­er­town ju­nior led his team’s sev­enth place (173 points) show­ing in the 31-school field, which in­cluded team­mate Tyler Reigner’s 24th place (17:07.35) ef­fort.

The Bears’ other top fin­ish­ers were John Black (38th), Zachary Raugh (48th) and Eric Muthers­baugh (62nd). Cen­tral Bucks East was the boys’ team cham­pion by one point (93-34) over Eas­ton.

Pope John Paul II was 11th among the boys, with Up­per Perkiomen 15th. Jack Phillips was PJP’s top run­ner, plac­ing 31st, while UP was led by Lance Tem­ple­ton’s 60th-place show­ing.

On the girls’ side, PJP’s Gianna Cagli­ola ran a 20;24.05 good for 17th place. The Golden Panthers placed 11th among 25 teams with help from Kayla Croiger (31st) and Natalie Florig (52nd).

Boy­er­town placed 19th in the team stand­ings with Mada­lyn Huns­berger com­ing in 32nd. UP’s Ser­ena Detweiler placed 43rd.
