Hamburg Hawks Performing Arts present ‘Hello, Dolly!’
Turn-of-the-century exploration of oldfashioned romance through comedy and song
Hamburg Area School District and the Hamburg Hawks Performing Arts invite the community to their production of “Hello, Dolly!” on Nov. 16 and 17. Come see if Dolly succeeds in her mission to find love in this turnof-the-century exploration of old-fashioned romance through comedy and song.
The production is directed by Barry Driesbach with vocal direction by Sara Jackson and choreography by Heidi Warmkessel.
Description: In 1890s New York City, the bold and enchanting widow Dolly Levi is a socialite-turned-matchmaker. Her latest clients seeking assistance are the cantankerous “half-a-millionaire” Horace Vandergelder and a young artist named Ambrose, who is in love with Horace’s niece, Ermengarde. Dolly’s scheming soon involves Horace’s employees as well as a New York hat-maker, as she tries to cover up her own secret romantic designs! Filled with songs and well-placed comedic timing, Hello, Dolly! (produced through special permission by Tams-Witmark) is based on the play The Matchmaker by Thornton Wilder. Book by Michael Stewart. Music and lyrics by Jerry Herman.
The show runs Nov. 16 and 17 in the Hamburg Area High School auditorium, 701 Windsor Street
