Men’s Shirt Workshop: Pottsgrove Manor will offer a men’s shirt workshop Saturday, March 30, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Learn the strategy to proper sleeve gathers and gussets at this handsewing workshop. April Thomas, owner of Fashions Revisited, will lead this workshop and teach participants all the skills needed to create their own hand-sewn shirt. White linen, all materials needed and expert instruction will be provided. Participants can choose the type of shirt they wish to make, from an everyday working shirt to one complete with ruffles. Space is limited. Materials fee is $85 per person. Ages 14-plus, and some hand sewing experience is recommended, but all levels are welcome to register for this workshop. Spring Bazaar: Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, 1236Juniper St., Pottstown, will hold its annual spring bazaar Saturday, April 13, from 8 a.m. to noon. Customers can purchase Pascha breads (Easter), nut rolls, pierogies, halupki (stuffed cabbage) and halushki (buttered noodles). Homemade soups and other baked goods will be available. All food items are takeout only. The bazaar will feature gift basket raffles and a flea market. On-site parking will be available. Lenten Luncheon and Retreat: Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, 1236 Juniper St. Pottstown, will sponsor a Lenten luncheon and retreat that also will feature the miraculous Myrrh-Streaming Icon of St. Anna, the mother of the Virgin Mary, Sunday, April 14, starting at 11:30 a.m. Father Herman Majkrzak, a monk from the Monastery of St. Tikhon of Zadonsk, will present a talk on “Mary the Virgin and Mary the Harlot: Holiness and Repentance on a Christian Path of Salvation.” Herman will bring with him the Myrrh-Streaming Icon of St. Anna that currently is housed at the monastery. Visitors and parishioners will be able to enjoy a light Lenten lunch, view the icon of St. Anna and hear Herman’s talk. The retreat is open to the public and is free. PMMC Offering Free Child Care Safety Check: Pottstown Memorial Medical Center is offering free car seat safety checks on the third Friday of every month from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Goodwill Ambulance Company, 714 E. High St., Pottstown. Child Certified Passenger Safety Technicians and trained volunteers will check child car seats for: recalls and damage; best fit for weight, height, and age; and will teach installation techniques. Celebrate Recovery: The newest ministry at Hopewell Community Church, 1130 Commerce Drive, Pottstown, will “Celebrate Recovery” through meetings every Wednesday at 7 p.m. Celebrate Recovery deals with Hurts, Hang Ups, and yes Habits. It is a twelve step program, unlike other programs we know who our “higher power” is, the one and only God and it is biblically based. We will honor Jesus and Praise Him. All of the studies will emphasize forgiveness and salvation. The “Eight Principles” are based on the Beatitudes for the purpose of leading all who attend on the path toward recovery.
