POTTSTOWN >> As July 4th creeps ever closer, so too does the deadline for contributing to Pottstown’s signature GoFourth celebration — complete with fireworks.

This year, donations and sponsorships for the event — which requires no taxpayer money — are up and organizers say they are within $5,000 of the fundraising goal.

This year’s event has also signed up the maximum number of food vendors — 21 in all — that in addition to the usual festival fare, also includes things like dumplings and egg rolls, pizza cones, roast beef, banana whips, gourmet tater tots, cheese curds, Korean fried chicken, empañadas and more.

The event, held in Memorial Park on Thursday, July 4, will also feature musical acts such as Anakai and the Grooveyard, Stephanie Grace, Afrobear; Hector Rosato and Orchestra Hache and Funktion.

This year, a change will make it possible to bring the offerings from the SlyFox beer tent into the audience area for the music performers.

The Colebrookdale Railroad will conduct “short-runs” as well as a special train for the fireworks.

Free kids activities include Grandpa Bubbles, Rainbow the Clown, inflatable rides and attractions, and the raingutter regatta.

There will be a hot air balloon launch

Fireworks begin at 9:15 p.m.
