OJR school board member to seek 26th Dist. seat
Owen J. Robert School Board member Paul Friel has announced his candidacy as a Democrat running for the 26th District seat in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.
The district has been represented by Republican Tim Hennessey since 1992.
“My vision for our community is not about the politics of Harrisburg — it’s about the policies that impact our schools and community everyday,” Friel said in a prepared statement released this week.
“Right now, too many of our current representatives positions and votes reflect Republican Party politics from Harrisburg and not our local community needs.
I am running because I believe sound policy that is reflective of our shared values will strengthen our community,” Friel said.
“Our schools, our environment, and our local businesses need someone with the energy and willingness to put our values and sound policy before politics,” he said.
A resident of East Vincent Township, Friel is owns a local business, PACE Environmental, a mid-Atlantic environmental testing and engineering firm.
Friel grew up in Gilbertsville and Lower Pottsgrove and graduated from St. Pius X High School and Temple University.
In addition to a small portion of the borough of Pottstown, the 26th House
District includes the following Chester County communities: North Coventry, South Coventry, East Coventry, East Vincent, East Nantmeal, West Nantmeal, Warwick, Elverson, Honey Brook Borough, Honey Brook Township, Wallace, West Caln and West Sadsbury.
