Free electronics recycling event scheduled for March 7
WEST POTTSGROVE » Green Allies is teaming up with West Pottsgrove Township to hold a household electronics, appliances and metal recycling day.
It will be held on Saturday, March 7, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. behind the Target store in the Upland Square shopping center. The collection area is only accessible off Upland Square Drive.
There is a $10 per vehicle charge.
You may want to be sure to give yourself lots of time as last year’s event attracted more than 500 vehicles-worth of recyclables.
Ken Hamilton, executive director of Green Allies, said last year that best estimates indicate more than 1,000 TV’s and computers were recycled, along with more than 8,000 pounds of appliance and metal and more than 200 air conditioners.
Here is a list of electronics that will be accepted for recycling:

• Tablets
• Printers
• Phone Systems
• Flat Screen TV’s
• CD’s and DVD’s
• Computer Ink Cartridges
• Laptop Computers
• Servers
• Flat Screen Monitors
• Stereos and Radios
• Game Consoles
• Cords and Wires
• Cell Phones and Calculators Additional fee for:
• Conventional TV’s & CRT Monitors ($45-$75 depending on size)
• Flat Screen TV’s (First one free, $5 per additional)

• Refrigerators
• Microwaves
All process (after costs) goes to the student run nonprofit group Green Allies, which helps in the management and programming at the Althouse Arboretum off Gilbertsville Road in Upper Pottsgrove.
