100 YEARS Ago, Oct 22, 1920 J.J. Dues has just completed a handsome garage at his residence on West Fourth St.

The Farmers Exchange are remodeling their elevator by building an office, porch and stairway in front. Heretofore, it took considerable time to locate the office, but now that is obvious.

The J.J. Dues Machine Company are erecting a big storage warehouse to store threshers and engines, and it will be 100 feet by 30 feet. It begins to look like if a stop is not put to the encroachments of this progressive firm, the whole west end of Minster will be covered with buildings to accommodate their ever increasing business.

The building that was formerly at the St. Marys Convent, but was moved to West Sixth Street, between Hanover and Frankfort streets, was finished last week, and James Jacobs and family moved into it.

Mr. J.J. Dues, learning that his old friend, Mr. Herman Plaspohl, of Dayton, would have a birthday, concluded to give him a surprise party, so he gathered up his family and motored to Dayton. To say his old friend was surprised, would be putting it mildly.

The Minster Knights of Columbus held a well-attended meeting at their new hall. After disposing of the usual routine business installation was taken up. Installed were Grand Knight – A.H. Lampert; Deputy Knight – F.W. Dine.

Dr. E.F. Westerheide, who has been conducting an automobile sales and service station, as well as a general garage, sold a onehalf interest in his business to Mr. Rudolph Esser (Formerly of Wisconsin)

Mr. Charles Laufersweiler has opened a general garage in the Schulenberg building on Fourth Street east of the John Wernsing store. (Current Dutch Mill) This place will be used a general repair and workshop while his other place will be a display room for new cars.
