Donald L. Hoying, 94

Donald L. Hoying, age 94, of Celina, Ohio passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2020, at the Celina Manor Nursing Home. He was born on May 24, 1926 in Minster, to the late Louis I. & Della (Dickman) Hoying. On June 6, 1953, he married Edna (Kremer) Hoying, who survives in Celina. He is also survived by his children; Susan (Keith) Homan, Jane (Guy) Hilleary, Joseph (Deborah) Hoying, Mike (Guadalupe) Hoying all of Celina, Richard Hoying of Fort Wayne, IN, Donn Hoying of Celina, thirteen grandchild­ren, twenty-one great grandchild­ren, five great-great grandchild­ren, brother and sister-in-law Charles (Marcille) Hoying of Minster, and sisters-in-law Rita Hoying of Minster and Janet Hoying of Minster.

He is proceeded in death by his parents, grandson Andrew Hoying, daughter-in-law Ronda Hoying, siblings Louis Hoying, Adele (George) Fernandez, James (Irene) Hoying, Marie Hoying, Robert Hoying and his brother-inlaw Norman (Vivian) Kremer.

He graduated from Minster High School with the class of 1944. He was formerly a pattern maker for Minster Machine and owned and operated Hoying Auto Service in Celina with his business partner Jerry Sielschott until he retired in 1995.

He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Celina, a Charter member of the Mercer County Sportsmen’s Associatio­n, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #1800 for over seventy-five years and a member of the National Associatio­n of Blue Bird’s Society. He enjoying wood working and building blue bird houses. He also enjoyed restoring and showing his 1927

Chevrolet gasoline delivery truck.

A Mass of Christian

Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2020 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Celina, with Fr. Kenneth Schnipke C.PP.S officiatin­g. Burial will follow in the St. Marys Catholic Cemetery in Celina. Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 and from 9-10 on Wednesday, at the Lehman-Dzendzel Funeral Home in Celina. The Knight of Columbus will hold a prayer service at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Attendees are required to wear masks, practice social distancing, and follow the COVID-19 guidelines establishe­d by Gov. DeWine and the Ohio Department of Health.
