The Flyers will host the winner of the Fayetteville-New Miami game next Friday at 7:00.

For the second time in the quarter, the Cardinals forced a fumble on Southeastern’s kick return, this time Branxton Krauss scooping it up and returning it for a score. Both teams wouldn’t give in with ties coming at 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31 and 32.

A tip from senior Kyra Oldiges put them up 33-32 and a Lady Tiger error gave them the 3432 set two victory to put them up 2-1.

“The first two sets we didn’t do a good job getting any touches what so ever,” said Garman. “I made an adjustment; Kyra came in and did a great job. We got more touches and some blocks.”

“Set three was huge,” added Garman. “it was like going into a new match, we knew neither one of us were going to back down. When you win a monster set like that, 34-32, that really gives a ton of momentum because we were behind that whole set pretty much.”

Although the Lady Wildcats never trailed in the fourth set, it was another battle to the very end as extra points were again required before the Lady Wildcats took the fourth set 26-24 and the match 3-1.

A 4-0 start forced a quick and early Lady Tigers timeout but that would be their biggest lead for the rest of the set.

It took one play for the Cardinals and they were able to put more points on the board, this time sophomore

Wokelle Googeg running it in for the score.

New Bremen’s 52 points on Friday night is the most points the Cardinals have scored in a game since 2004, when they defeated Troy Christian 55-27 in the first round of the Division VI Region 24 playoffs.

“It obviously says a lot about the work that people have put in to our program; coaches, players, boosters, parents, administration — that we can have a home playoff win by that margin and get a lot of kids in and everybody gets a chance to contribute,” said Schmidt.

New Bremen will host MAC opponent St. Henry this week.

After that timeout, they responded with a kill but the Lady Tigers had a kill and block to take a 22-21 lead.

“Even after the 34-32 set the girls were like, ‘that was a lot of fun!’” said Lady Wildcats coach Cami Garman. “And I’m like, ‘yeah because we won! You might’ve had fun out there but I was freaking out over here (on the sideline).’”

“The fact of the matter is there was so many times we could’ve been the prey,” added Garman. “We could’ve folded. We shored it up when we needed to, thought we got a little anxious at times, a little tight, but when you would expect us to be even tighter, is when we relaxed and played our best game.”

With just two regular season games left and now sporting a 14-7 record, the Lady Wildcats will host Hardin Northern on Oct. 22 in the Sectional tournament.

Garman added she wants to see the team focus on constancy heading into the post season, earning points and not hoping for other teams mistakes.

“Everyone is buying in right now,” said Garman. “We’ve said it all season we don’t want to peak now, we want to peak in tournament. We had a rough patch but we knew if we got our mind right, we could finish strong and that’s what we’re feeling now.”

The Lady Wildcats beat Bluffton in straight sets (25-18, 25-8, 25-18) on 10/12 and a 17-3 Tri Village team in five sets (25-23, 25-23, 13-25, 2125, 15-8) on 10/17.
