Minster, Fort Loramie cross country advance to states

All four of our local cross-country programs were at regionals over the weekend, with Minster, Marion Local and New Bremen competing in the Tiffin regional and Fort Loramie in the Troy regional.

For those at Tiffin, the top seven teams and individual­s not on qualifying teams that finished in the top 28 advanced to states at Fortress Obetz on Nov. 7

At Troy, the top four teams and individual­s not on qualifying teams that finished in the top 16 advanced to states.

Minster: The boys (145) finished third behind Columbus Grove (98) and Holgate (104). Scoring for the boys were Alex Albers (2nd, 16:14.2), Jack Grieshop (40th, 17:26), Joseph Slonkosky (47th, 17:30.6), Jim Trzaska (58th, 17:47.3), Ryan Halpin (78th, 18:03) and Matthew Droesch (111th, 18:30.1).

The girls (54) finished eight points behind Liberty Center for the top spot and were led by Ella Boate (2nd, 18:43.7), Maggie Hemmelgarn (7th, 19:25.5), Taylor Roth (15th, 19:48), Chaney Cedarleaf (16th, 19:53.4), Mason Pohl (21st, 19:58.8), Cameo Cedarleaf (30th, 20:37.4) and Morgan Ketner (59th, 21:05.2).

Fort Loramie: The boys (119) finished one spot off of qualifying for states behind Cedarville (53), Simmit Country Day (62), Anna (103) and Botkins (109).

Colten Gasson (5th, 16:50.7), Colin Gasson (13th, 17:03.7), Trey Ranly (36th, 17:56.9), Frank Rethman (49th, 18:20.9), Evan Eilerman (74th, 19:14.2) and Kameron Barhorst (80th, 19:19.2) led the boys with Colten and Colin both qualifying for individual states with top 16 finishes. The girls (58), who finished second behind West Liberty Salem (29), were led by Liv Borchers (2nd, 19:15.5), Claire Rethman (7th, 19:42.2), Dani Eilerman (13th, 20:27.5), Anna Detrick (16th, 20:36.3), Ava Turner (21st, 20:55.5), Corynn Heitkamp (23rd, 21:01.7) and Caitlyn Gasson (27th, 21:09.5).

Marion Local: The boys (494) season ended at regionals at regionals. Noah Budde (51st, 17:36.8), Troy Stucke (109th, 18:29.9), Aaron Broering (131st, 18:51.9), Preston Kemper (157th, 19:12.8), Lucas Broering (174th, 19:43.3) John Kramer (181st, 19:55.3) and Zach Kramer (186th, 20:12.8) scored for the boys.

New Bremen: The boys (548) were led by Zach Wiedeman (113th, 18:31.7) Zach Ashman (115th, 18:38.5), Cole Powers (145th, 19:03.2), Patrick Bernhold (155th, 19:10.7), Gavin Spragg (164th, 19:23.1), Luke Davidson (179th, 19:50.4) and Connor Ransbottom (182nd, 20:04.4) to conclude their season.

The girls (287) finished eighth behind Liberty Center (46), Minster (54), Fort Recovery (204), Woodmore (208), Colonol Crawford (209), Ottawa Hills (220) and St. Henry (276) to just miss out on qualifying for states.

Leading the girls was Chole Homan (40th, 20:49.5), Caroline Whitlach (50th, 20:56.2), Emma Keller (69th, 21:24.5), Alayna Thieman (99th, 21:56.8), Madison Cordonnier (110th, 22:12.6), Lily Rindler (112th, 22:14.2) and Vivian Niekamp (141st, 23:13.3).
