NEW BREMEN — K-6 Principal Diane Kramer shared elementary testing results with board members during Wednesday’s New Bremen Board of Education meeting.

Each grade level showed improvements from fall testing to the most recent spring testing.

Kramer shared results fro STAR Early Literacy, STAR Reading and STAR Math assessments.

The data was broken down into four categories: urgent intervention, intervention, on watch and at/ above benchmark.

“I will say that usually there’s very strong correlation to how the kids end up on this in the spring to what they do on the actual state test,” said Kramer. “Overall, I feel like we’re going to do well.”

Some of the biggest improvements were second grade math, where 58% of students were at or above the benchmark in the fall whereas 95% of students were at or above the benchmark in the spring, and early literacy for kindergarteners, with 65% of students testing at or above the benchmark in the fall and 92% of the students were at or above the benchmark in the spring.

Board members also learned that resurfacing for the school’s track began on June 11 and work will be completed on June 21.

Staying with athletics, it was announced that New Bremen will raise its ticket prices for sporting events beginning next season.

Individual tickets for football and basketball will

now cost $8. Presale tickets will be $7.

The cost increase is conference wide as it was decided during a Midwest Athletic Conference meeting.
