Champ Nutrition opens its doors

- By COREY MAXWELL Managing Editor

NEW BREMEN — Those looking for healthier meal options could consider sliding over to Champ Nutrition in New Bremen.

Champ Nutrition, owned and operated by Casey Rammel, opened its doors this week and began offering customers healthy options in form of teas, smoothies and shakes.

“We offer meal replacement, onthe-go, ready-to-drink shakes and drinks,” said Rammel.

Options include metabolismboosting teas that offer extra caffeine. Rammel said there are also options that offer aloe boosters that help with digestion.

“We also have other drinks that have different kinds of boosters in them as well, such as a collagen booster, probiotic, immunity,” said Rammel. “There’s several different options depending on what individual’s health goals may be. You come in, you can grab breakfast on the go, and it’s nice and easy to take it to work with you.”

Rammel said she worked at Celina Insurance Group the last seven years and would often visit Blessed Nutrition in Celina to get something to drink.

“I would find myself driving to Celina even on days off just to get a shake,” said Rammel. “I asked the owner there, Heather Byers — she’s been great helping me through this whole thing as well — I just asked her one day, ‘Have you ever thought about opening up one of these in New Bremen?’ and she said, ‘Yeah, why don’t you?’ I got to thinking about it for a little bit. I thought about the opportunity to be home with my three boys a lot more and be more present in their life while doing something that I absolutely love.”

Rammel said once she decided to move forward with opening her store, located at 476 S. Washington St., it was a fast process.

“Crown owns the building and

they did a lot of the buildout for me. They were awesome through everything, too,” she said. “Once the buildout started, it was a pretty quick turnaround. My fatherin-law and my husband’s godfather built the bar for us. We just were able to get in here and make it work. We got to open up this past Tuesday and we’ve had three really, really good days. We’ve had a very supportive community and we wouldn’t have been able to do it without them. It’s been great.”

Rammel said a deciding factor to open the store in New Bremen was to be able to spend more time with her boys who are ages 6, 4 and 1.5.

“The time with them was a big deciding factor,” she said. “Even though they drive you nuts sometimes, it’s still having that time with them because they grow up way too quick.”

Rammel said if she had to choose, her favorite drink to have is the peanut butter and Oreo shake as well as the Cardinal Tea.

Since officially opening on Tuesday, Rammel said the support from the community has been

great so far.

“Without them, the success that we’ve had would not have been there,” she said.

“Our opening day line was out the door. Just to see that and think back on all of the work, effort and thought process, just right then and there made it all worth it. They’ve been excited still as they’ve come in day after day now the last few days. It’s been great. They’ve been excited so that’s great to see.”

Champ Nutrition is open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, with hours from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays and it’s closed on Sundays.
