Wildcats back for 21-22 year

- By COREY MAXWELL Managing Editor

MINSTER — Minster returned to school on Wednesday, embarking on the first day of the 2021-22 school year, a day that Superintendent Brenda Boeke called exciting.

“The first day is always very exciting. My excitement comes from watching the students get excited about being in new classrooms and seeing old friends,” said Boeke. “It also comes from seeing the teachers excited about the new group of students they get to impact this year.”

Aside from a few hiccups, the day went well, said Boeke.

“You never know what you are going to get on the first day so aside from a few minor plumbing and computer issues, the first day went very well,” she said. “We had very few

students absent and the students and teachers were happy to be back.”

With the new school year, the district will continue to follow the recommendations from the Auglaize County Health Department.

“We learned a great many things last year as we provided in-person learning,” said Boeke. “We kept those things we learned that were beneficial to our students. We continue to clean and sanitize, we support those who choose to wear masks, we are maintaining three feet of distance when possible and we are following the Guidelines for Quarantine After Exposure in K-12 Classroom Settings provided to us from the Auglaize County Health Department. We continue to monitor the daily numbers in Minster and Auglaize County and will adjust our protocols when the data indicates a change is needed.”

As students returned to school on Wednesday, Boeke expects students, teachers and faculty to follow a strong tradition that Minster has been a part of over the years.

“We expect the students and teachers to learn, care and grow each day as they implement the district strategic plan goals of: ensuring academic success for every student; providing safe and innovative learning environments; use resources effectively and be fiscally responsible and finally to engage our community,” said Boeke. “We are looking forward to this school year being our best one yet!”
