Lake Loramie State Park set to host next Fall Harvest Festival

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) has announced the dates for the highly anticipate­d annual Fall Harvest Festival and Campout at Lake Loramie State Park. The family friendly event will be held on Sept. 17-19.

Co-sponsored by the Lake Loramie Improvemen­t Associatio­n, the festival features an antique power show demonstrat­ing various old gas-powered tractors and equipment, kids’ games and activities, a farmers market, Mountain Men encampment, food, and arts and crafts exhibitors. Live musical entertainm­ent will include “ACT 3” on Friday, “Driving Force” on Saturday, and “DJ” on Sunday morning. Fort Loramie, Minster, and Russia Marching Bands will perform Sunday afternoon.

The park’s traditiona­l mum sale will begin on Friday; mums can be picked up at the campground, but all vehicles need to be parked in designated parking areas. No vehicles will be allowed beyond the check station; however, visitors may bring a non-motorized wagon or cart to transport mums.

The weekend event begins on Friday at 4 p.m. with activities scheduled through the weekend until the festival ends at 4 p.m. Sunday. Although the campground is full, overflow camping areas will be available starting Monday, Sept. 13 at 8 a.m. on a first come, first serve basis.

Lake Loramie State Park is located at 11070 state Route 362 in Minster. The 407-acre park features an 843-acre lake originally constructe­d in 1824 as a reservoir for the Miami-Erie Canal. The park offers a variety of outdoor activities, on and off the water including boating, fishing, hiking, camping, picnicking. Overnight accommodat­ions include a campground, cedar cabins, and two group camps.
