Redskins fall on Friday

Minster, Marion Local prevail

Versailles 48, Fort Loramie 7

The rain played a role on Friday night, especially in the Fort Loramie and Versailles game.

A lengthy rain delay forced a later end to the game with Versailles coming out ahead, 48-7.

Versailles’ Landon Henry scored on a short touchdown run and Jack Osborne busted a 51-yard touchdown run late in the second quarter to put the Tigers up 14-0.

Versailles would add another score right before halftime with Titus Gehret punching one in.

The Redskins would get on the board in the third quarter after a 5-yard run by Caleb Maurer.

Versailles didn’t let up in the second half, scoring three touchdowns on distances longer than 50 yards.

A Connor Stonebrake­r touchdown with 3:34 left in the game would cap Friday night’s scoring to make it the 48-7 final.

Versailles finished the night with 499 yards of total offense to Fort Loramie’s 249 total yards.

Maurer went 16-of-32 for 212 yards and one intercepti­on on Friday.

The Redskins will be back in action Friday night taking on Covington (0-2) at home for a 7 p.m. kickoff.

Minster 27, Columbus 6

Minster earned its first win of the year on Saturday, defeating the Columbus Crusaders, a private club team, at Otterbein’s Memorial Stadium.

Brogan Stephey started the scoring with a 7-yard touchdown

run late in the first quarter to give Minster the 7-0 advantage.

Columbus would score a touchdown of their own late in the second quarter, but a failed PAT made it a 7-6 game.

Stephey would punch in another touchdown and then hooked up with Devin Wuebker on a 21-yard touchdown play in the third quarter.

Stephey punched in his third touchdown of the game in the fourth quarter to make it a 27-6 final.

The Wildcats put up 350 yards of total offense.

Stephey went 10-for-29 throwing the ball, totaling 248 yards with one touchdown. He finished with 86 yards on 12 carries with three scores.

Jack Kohne caught two passes for 59 yards and Zach Fortman caught

four passes for 46 yards.

Minster will open Midwest Athletic Conference Play this Friday against St. Henry at home.

Marion Local 10, McComb 0

The Flyers grinded out a 10-0 win over McComb on Friday night in a game where both teams combined for 14 punts.

Marion Local’s kicker Kevin Partington nailed a 34-yard field goal attempt before halftime to put the Flyers up 3-0 in the low-scoring affair.

In the fourth, Kyle Otte returned a punt to McComb’s 44-yard line which later set up Darren Meier to punch it in from one yard out to give the Flyers their lone touchdown of the game.

Marion Local’s Peyton Otte ran for 51 yards and threw for 50 yards on Friday night.

The Flyers will play host to Versailles on Friday.
