Minster hosts cross country invitation­al

MINSTER — The Minster boys and girls cross country squads hosted an invitation­al on Saturday morning.

In the boys’ competitio­n, Miamisburg finished in first place with 16 points. The host Wildcats were second (60), followed by Marysville (83). Also competing were Versailles (115), Fort Loramie (129), Lehman Catholic (160) and Coldwater (189).

Ryan Halpin led Minster with a seventh-place finish and a time of 18:16. Jim Trzaska was ninth in 18:29, followed by Tyler Prenger (11th, 18:37); Nick Prenger (14th, 18:50) and Noah Walter (19th, 19:14).

Others running were Russell Heid (19:20); Joseph Slonkosky (19:50); Braeden Bohman (20:01); Alex Westerheid­e (20:46); Matthew Wenning (20:58); Lucas Stammen (22:37); Jacob Keller (22:41); Owen Meyer (24:24); Noah Droesch (24:32); and Alex Felice (27:13).

Five of the first six runners across the finish line were from Miamisburg, led by Seth Elking (16:09). Breaking things up was Adam Ballas of Fort Loramie (17:55) in fifth place.

In the girls’ race, Minster was the top team with 28 points. Miamisburg was second (58), followed by Versailles (62), Marysville (116), Fort Loramie (121) and Coldwater (166).

Taylor Roth of Minster finished second, clocking a time of 20:41. The rest were not far behind with Cameo Cedarleaf (21:18) fourth, Chaney Cedarleaf (21:21) fifth, Ava Stammen (22:04); eighth and Morgan Ketner (22:16) ninth.

Rachel Niekamp (22:16) and Emma Meyer (22:64) were 10th and 13th. Others competing were Adrianna Kremer (24;01); Elizabeth Trzaska (24:47); Riley Billings (24:59); Gabrielle Pelletier (26:30); Josi Boate (26:56); and Alexis Hanson (28:580);

Anna Newkirk of Miamisburg was the race winner with a time of 20:26.
