Wildcats, Flyers, Cards compete at Spencervil­le district

SPENCERVIL­LE — The Minster boys and girls track and field teams swept the team championsh­ips in a Division III district track and field meet.

Competitio­n was held Wednesday and Friday at Spencervil­le.

The Wildcats boys had 114 points, with Marion Local second at 105. New Bremen finished ninth (30) and New Knoxville scored 11 points.

For the girls, Minster had 124.5 points, with Coldwater (85) the runner-up. New Bremen earned 35 points to finish sixth, and New Knoxville had 24 for 10th place.

The top four finishers qualified for the regional meet.

MINSTER

Alex Albers won the district title in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:00.55.

He will also compete in the 1600, after finishing second (4:39.08).

Jack Kohne finished second in the 200m dash (23.59).

In the 110m hurdles, Joseph Slonkosky ran third (16.43), then won the 300 hurdles (40.96).

Three relay teams qualified for regionals.

The 4x400 was first (3:32.43), the 4x200 was second (1:32.42) and the 4x800 took third (8:30.62).

Russell Heid and Lucas Stammen qualified in the pole vault. Heid was second at 13-2 and Stammen took fourth at 12-6.

Earning spots in the discus were Tristan McDaniel in third (149-7) and Charlie Schmiesing, who was fourth (148-11).

All the individual qualifiers are seniors, except for Schmiesing, who is a sophomore.

In other finals, Bo Dwenger placed fifth (17.54) in the 110 hurdles.

Kohne was sixth in the 100m dash (12.38), and Nathan Webb was sixth in the 200 (24.02).

Lucas Thiebeau was eighth in the 400m dash (54.94).

In the 800, Alex Westerheid­e finished ninth (2:08.90). Jack Grieshop was sixth in the 1600 (4:49.70).

Running the 3200 meters were Grieshop (seventh, 10:35.49) and Ryan Halpin (ninth, 11:12.31).

The 4x100 relay finished seventh (45.55).

In field events, Nathan Webb was eighth (5-8) in the high jump and Dwenger was ninth in the long jump (18-6 1/2).

In the shot put, Alex Frimel was fifth (45-6) and Noah Pleiman was eighth (42-5 1/2).

GIRLS

Taylor Roth, a junior, took first place (2:16.88) and sophomore Margaret Hemmelgarn was third (2:21.88) to punch tickets for regionals.

In the 1600, Hemmelgarn was the event winner (5:32.99) with fellow sophomore Chaney Cedarleaf second (5:33.01). Cedarleaf was also first in the 3200m run (12:19.72).

Junior Cameo Cedarleaf finished second in the 400m dash (1:01.79).

Qualifying in relays were the 4x800 in first place (9:55.40) the 4x400 in second (4:06.90) and the 4x200 in third (1:49.07).

Sophomore Kayla Lamm took second in the high jump (5-1).

In the pole vault, freshman Josi Boate took second place at 9-4.

Lilly Barhorst, a sophomore, was second in shot put (39-5) and fourth in the discus (107-3).

In other results from finals, Ava Grieshop finished seventh in the 200m dash (28.06).

Lilly Barhorst took fifth place in the 400 (1:03.32).

Liz Trzaska finished 10th in the 3200m run (14:29.30).

In hurdles, Lexi Niemeyer was eighth in the 100 (18.13) and Sophia Werling ran eighth in the 300 (51.83).

The 4x100 relay finished in fifth place (52.32).

Adriana Kremer was seventh in the high jump (4-10).

In the long jump, Lamm was sixth (16-1/2) and Sophia Werling was seventh (15-4 1/4).

Ashlyn Homan took eighth in the

pole vault (7-6).

MARION LOCAL BOYS

Peyton Moeller won the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.89 seconds. Moeller placed fourth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.77 seconds.

Tate Hess (52.07) and Wesley Schoen (52.53) placed 5-6 in the 400 meter dash finals.

Aaron Broering placed fifth (2:05.16) and Andrew Pohlman placed (2:08.12) in the 800 meter run.

Noah Budde placed fifth in the 1,600 meter run with a time of 4:48.86.

Troy Stucke (10:36.33) finished eighth in the two-mile run.

Landon Arling placed seventh in the 110 meter hurdles (17.90).

Arling and Carter Jones placed 7-8 in the 300 meter hurdles with respective times of 44.37 and 45.41.

The 4x100 meter relay team of Brayden Pavelka, Kyle Otte, Moeller and Peyton Otte won with a time of 44.29 seconds.

The 4x200 team of Moeller, Nate Buscher, Hess and P. Otte placed fourth with a time of 1:33.20.

The 4x400 team of Aiden Grieshop, Victor Hoelscher, Hess and Schoen took second place with a time of 3:33.68.

The 4x800 team of Broering, Troy Stucke, Andrew Pohlman and Budde placed fourth with a time of 8:32.40.

Hess qualified for regionals in the high jump (5 feet, 10 inches).

Dan Bruns went 19 feet, 1 inch in the long jump and placed sixth.

Buscher won the pole vault at 14 feet, 2 inches. Carter Jones placed third with a vault of 12 feet, 10 inches.

Jack Knapke won the discus with a throw of 173 feet, 7 inches, besting second place finisher, Coldwater’s Jesse Meyer, by more than 22 feet. Adam Chrisman (139 feet, 10 inches) placed seventh.

Knapke finished in sixth place in the shot put (43 feet, 1 inch). Kyle Ungruhn was ninth with a throw of 42 feet, 4 inches.

GIRLS

Jayden Huelsman was fifth in the 800 meter run (2:25.81).

Josie Bruns placed ninth in the 3,200 meter run with a time of 14:16.80.

The 4x200 team of Schwieterm­an, Pohl, Keller and Moeller placed fourth with a time of 1:51.47.

The 4x400 team of Hoelscher, Schwieterm­an, Jayden Huelsman and Keller placed third with a time of 4:07.7.

Lizzy Homan was third in the pole vault (9 feet).

Molly Winner won the shot put with a throw of 39 feet, 11.5 inches, and placed third in the discus finals (108 feet, 3 inches).

NEW BREMEN GIRLS

BOYS

For the Cardinals boys, junior Patrick Bernhold earned a regional spot by taking second in the 800m run (2:02.54).

The 4x400m relay was third (3:34.90) and the 4x800 took second place (8:25.03).

In other finals, Braden Suchland was seventh in the 400m dash (54.17).

Sam Bernhold was 14th in the 800 (2:12.37).

Zach Wiedeman was fifth in the 3200m run (10:05.14) and Cole Powers was 14th (11:45.79).

The 4x200m relay was seventh (1:37.48).

In field events, Aaron Poeppelman was 11th in the high jump (5-4).

Mason Kuck finished ninth in the discus (136-5).

The Lady Cardinals’ Chloe Homan was second in the 3200m run (12:23.94) and Molly Dues was third (12:36.50). Homan is a sophomore and Dues is a junior.

Mia Hirschfeld, a freshman, took fourth in the 400m dash (1:02.95).

The 4x800m relay team took third place (10:07.33).

Caroline Whitlach finished sixth in the 800m run (2:26.06).

Shaylee Boyle was 11th in the 1600 (6:22.50).

The 4x200 relay team finished sixth (1:54.20), as did the 4x400 (4:31.40).

In the high jump, Chloe Homan was 10th (4-8). Megan Rinehart finished ninth in the long jump (14-7 3/4). Chloe Bornhorst finished eighth in shot put (30-6 1/2). Brooklyn Kremer was 12th in pole vault (7-0).
