New Bremen falls to Tri-Village on Saturday

NEW MADISON — New Bremen fell to Tri-Village 49-41 in a non conference girls basketball contest on Saturday afternoon.

Lilly Barhorst had 12 points and Kaycie Albers scored 11 for the Lady Cardinals.

Tri-Village jumped out to a 19-4 lead in the first quarter. Anna Larger scored from the field and Katie McClurg hit two free throws.

In the second, New Bremen scored 12 points. Barhorst had eight, with a basket and six free throws. Albers made a three-pointer and Larger connected on a free throw. At the half, Tri-Village led 26-16.

New Bremen got threepoint­ers by McClurg, Albers and Lyndi Hemmelgarn in the third quarter, along with a basket by Barhorst and a free throw by Lydia Mescher.

The fourth quarter was even, as Tri-Village held on for the eight-point win. Albers had five points. Hitting one shot each were Barhorst, Sadie Niemeyer, Hemmelgarn and Addi Inskeep.

BOYS BASKETBALL Fort Jennings 56, New Knoxville 50

FORT JENNINGS — New Knoxville lost to host Fort Jennings on Saturday.

The Rangers are 1-13 on the season.

Jay Waterman had 20 points, Troy Dwenger had 12 and Preston Rutschilli­ng added 10.

The Musketeers had a 14-12 lead after one period. Waterman had six points, with 3s by Andrew Leffel and Jay Schroeder.

Defense took over in the second, with Fort Jennings having a 7-5 edge. At the half, they led 21-17. Waterman hit a three and Rutschilli­ng made a two.

Each side scored 10 points in the third quarter. Waterman had five. Dwenger and Rutschilli­ng had a basket each, with a free throw by Rutschilli­ng.

The final period saw the Rangers put up 23, with Fort Jennings scoring 25. New Knoxville made 12-of13 free throws. Waterman hit two 3s and Rutschilli­ng one.

New Knoxville will host Ada this evening at 6 p.m.
