100 Years Ago Feb. 9, 1923 Minster Farmers’ Exchange Co. Shows For Continued Advancemen­t – The affairs connected with the Minster Farmer’s Exchange company’s business came in for a yearly reckoning during the past several days and after the books and records had all been inspected by a competent accountant the men interested in that enterprise heard a report that was most acceptable to them.

The lower house of the Ohio legislatur­e used a sort of a “Kill ‘em quick” decoction on a bill that was indented to curb the activities of the Ku Klux Klan in the State of Ohio.

The Minster village council has purchased lots at the crossing of Hanover and Fourth streets and at their meeting on last Monday night the transactio­n was closed.

The members of the Minster post American Legion have arranged for a public meeting at the KofC hall. This meeting will be for the purpose of furthering the movement to organize a ladies auxiliary.

75 Years Ago Feb. 6, 1948 Minster Triumphs Over Waynesfiel­d – Minster led all the way here as it scored a 5235 victory over Waynesfiel­d in an Auglaize county league game. Bob Busse and Tom Frericks with 15 points each, paced Minster.

VFW Tramples New Bremen Cage Team – Minster VFW basketball team won over New Bremen 50-50 in a tilt in the high school gym here. Wissman of the visitors was high scorer with seven field goals and three charity tosses. Bensman led Minster with 15 points.

Minster chapter, FFA, has purchased out of its treasury for $66 a 24 bottle milk tester to replace one they had been using which was discarded by the White Mountain Creamery.

F-1c Paul J. Dues, son of Mrs. Katherine Dues, has been discharged from the navy at San Diego, Calif, after having been stationed at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Bremerton, Wash.

50 Years Ago Feb. 8, 1973 KofC C Takes Stand on Abortion – We view with great sorrow and total dismay the recent Supreme Court decision on the matter of abortion. Jan 22, 1973 will be a day of infamy in the history of our great country (Roe Vs Wade)

Crescent Theatre – Charlie Chaplin in Modern Times (Modern Times has never been shown on Television). Known as Charlie’s Best Picture

Cole Duffy, son of Mrs., Sarah Duffy, formerly of Minster has accepted the office of Student Body President at Ohio University. Duffy won the position with 60% of the vote.

2000 to 2007 Newspaper recently added to Minster Historical Society Website.
