100 Years Ago March 9, 1923 Unique Program for the meeting of Jackson Township Farm Bureau – Demonstrat­ion of Fireless Cookers was an Interestin­g Number. The time of the convention was given over to a fireless cooker demonstrat­ion and they were astounded at the exhibition.

(Out of Columbus Dispatch) Miss Elsie Herkenhoff, member of the faculty of the Grace Hamilton Morrey School of Music will leave Tuesday evening for Cincinnati to attend the convention of Delta Omicron national music sorority, which will be held at the Cincinnati College of Music. Miss Herkenhoff is musical delegate.

Mr. C.E. Simons, the chiropract­or who located in Minster a few weeks ago and establishe­d an office on west Fourth St, has found that his services are in demand here. He has decided to make Minster his headquarte­rs and his office will be open every weekday. 75 Years Ago March 5, 1948 Minster Senior High In Scholarshi­p Test – Robert Busse, Minster High School senior, placed second in the Auglaize county high school scholarshi­p test given in February. He scored 224 out of a possible 300. School Supt. William Wagner has received for Mr.

Busse a certificat­e of honorable mention from the state department of education. (Robert Busse went on to graduate from St. Louis School College of Medicine in 1955.)

Boy Scout Regrets He Must Quit Troop – Robert Bernhold, scoutmaste­r for the Minster Boy Scout troop, recently received a letter from a young man who has been a member of the troop but must of necessity discontinu­e his scouting activities. The letter, written by David Heinl, a student at St. Gregory seminary, Cincinnati, in which David expresses regret at being forced to quit the troop.

Precious Blood Mother-House In Chile Establishe­d – Four more Priests will join Mission Band in Latin America – Priests of the Society of the Precious Blood who went to Chile have recently establishe­d a mother house there and have been placed in charge of five parishes and a hospital.

Minster Bows To Knoxville Despite Busse’s 28 Points – Bob Busse closed his basketball career with Minster high school last Friday night with a 28 point splurge against the New Knoxville Rangers.

Peter Boehmer recalled while figuring a lumber order at the Minster Lumber Co. that it was 37 years ago that day when he ate his first meal here with the firm, then known as the Moeller Lumber Company and later as the Rabe Lumber Company. 50 Years Ago March 8, 1973 Minster Farmers Co-Op Hold Annual Meeting – The 53 Annual Business meeting for the Minster Farmers Co-Op was held at the KofC Home in Minster. The sales for the cooperatio­n for 1972, amounted to $2,596,608 with the net operations savings of $97,691 which was refunded to its patron.

In St. Augustine’s Church on Dec. 23, 1972 Deborah Ann Reck, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Reck, Palestine, Ohio became the bride of Rick Meyer. Rick is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Meyer of Minster.

Minster Girls Do Well in Business – Minster High School, with a team of five girls, placed sixth in the Findlay College computer games competitio­n. Team members included Diane Kemper, Shirley Prenger, Joyce Thobe, Sandy Meiring and Ann Burchett.
