“Bill” Palmer of Louisville, Ky, passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at the age of 82. He was born in Louisville, to parents Ernest and Louise (Ferriell) Palmer. Bill attended St. Agnes Catholic School, St. Xavier High School, and attained a BS in Engineerin­g from the University of Louisville’s Speed School of Engineerin­g.

Bill worked in process engineerin­g and computer engineerin­g in the distilling, manufactur­ing and processing industries.

Bill enjoyed his family almost as much as he enjoyed model trains. His family took many a trip to visit museums, only to find out there was a train show in town. He will be missed and remembered fondly.

Bill is survived by his wife of 58 years, Elizabeth (Libby) Palmer; sons, Bill Palmer (Lesa) of Cynthiana, Ky, and Daniel Palmer (MaryAnn) of Louisville, Ky. Grandchild­ren, of whom he was very proud, are Keenan, Ethan, Shane and Aria Palmer, and Marisa Versen (Brett), Dalton Main and Anna Palmer. Great-grandchild­ren are Chaney, Emmie and Archie Versen. He is also survived by two brothers: Steve Palmer and Bob Palmer (Chris) of Louisville, Ky. Bill was a faithful servant of God, devoted husband and father, and a cherished grandfathe­r with wit and humor to share.

A visitation will be Monday December 18, 2023, from 3pm-7pm at Ratterman Funeral Home, 3711 Lexington Rd., St. Matthews. Mass will be held on Tuesday December 19, 2023, 10 am at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 7813 Shelbyvill­e Rd., with a private interment at Calvary Cemetery
