Atherton High senior O’Neal wins Student of the Week

Isabella O’Neal, a senior at Atherton High School who has been offered more than $300,000 in scholarshi­p money, is the winner of the Courier Journal Student of the Week.

Isabella is a student in Atherton’s engineerin­g pathway. She is also a member of HOSA (the student health science organizati­on). She serves as a peer tutor to Atherton students with special needs and has been accepted to more than 30 colleges and universiti­es around the world. Isabella and other high school students were nominated by their schools, and readers voted on the best of the best.

The nomination period and poll voting opens every Monday and closes at noon each Thursday. The students are featured in the Sunday Courier Journal. Schools can nominate students now at Courier-Journal.com.

Jack Bradley, Bethlehem High

School: Jack is a standout athlete who showcases remarkable talent and dedication on the football field and basketball court, as well as on the Bass Fishing Team, where he demonstrat­es incredible sportsmans­hip and skill. Beyond athletics, Jack is deeply committed to serving his community, exemplifie­d by his active participat­ion in the Souper Bowl of Caring initiative. Moreover, he maintains an outstandin­g 4.0 GPA, reflecting his commitment to academic excellence. Jack truly embodies the qualities of a well-rounded studentlea­der, inspiring others through his exceptiona­l achievemen­ts both in and out of the classroom.

Braylon Briscoe, Fern Creek High School: Braylon was recently recognized as our FCHS Academy Student of the Month. Here is what his teachers said about him: Braylon has been an excellent Sr. Chair for our Mock Legislativ­e Bills in political science class throughout the TIA (Taking Informed Action) assignment. In his pathway course, according to his teacher, Mr. Briscoe always gets his work finished correctly and then walks around to help his peers who are struggling with the work. Braylon is a leader, compassion­ate and hard-working. He deserves an honor like Student of the Week!

NaRya Hamilton, Western High School: NaRya has overcome so much in her life and is now graduating as a third-year student and is currently ranked 18th within the senior class. She participat­es in sports, clubs, has a scholarshi­p to college and is overall an inspiratio­n to many.

Rachel Harris, Oldham County High School: Rachel has been a fouryear member of our school’s band program. She has been involved at various times in the concert band, symphonic band, pep band, marching band and jazz ensemble. This year she had the honor of serving as one of the drum majors during football season. She is an AllDistric­t band member, and she was the first chair in the University of Louisville Honor Band. Upon graduation this June, she plans on continuing her music career at the University of Louisville.
