LOUISVILLE - Dr. Irvin Bronner died Sunday April 14, 2024. He was born to Gustav and Regina Schafer Bronner on Oct. 23, 1932, in Louisville, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Mary Patricia Bronner; his son, Edward A. Bronner; his parents; and his brother, Robert R. Bronner.

He is survived by three of his children: Cynthia Bronner; Raymond Bronner and spouse Amanda; Eric Bronner and spouse Vaughn Bryner; and Pamela Bronner (widow of Edward); and grandchild­ren: Christina and spouse Robert Larson; Stephanie and spouse Christophe­r Sprinkle; Joseph Bronner; Kevin and spouse Halley Bronner; and sister in-law Kathy Bronner.

Dr. Bronner was in the private practice of Obstetrics and Gynecology from 1963 to 2002 except for the years 1966-1968, during which time he served his country as a medical officer in the United

States Army and was honorably discharged with the rank of Major. His primary education was in parochial schools (Holy Name and St. Thomas More) secondary education at St. Xavier High School, and undergradu­ate and graduate education at the University of Louisville, receiving his Doctor of Medicine Degree in 1958. Dr. Bronner then continued his post-doctorate training at St. Joseph Infirmary as an intern (1958-59), then resident and chief resident in Obstetrics and Gynecology (1959-63). He was a Diplomat of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Fellow of the American College of Obstetrici­ans and Gynecologi­sts. He was a past president of the Louisville Obstetric and Gynecologi­c Society, past president of the Medical Staff and department Chairman of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Audubon Hospital. His profession­al society membership­s include the AMA, Kentucky and Greater Louisville Medical Societies, Kentucky Section of the American College of Obstetrici­ans and Gynecologi­sts, and the Louisville Obstetric and Gynecologi­c Society. He was also a founding member of the Order of The Otter.

Visitation will be at Ratterman Brothers Funeral Home, 3711 Lexington Road, Louisville, KY, Thursday April 18, 2024, from 3-7 pm. The Funeral Mass will be held at his church, Holy Trinity Parish, 501 Cherrywood Road, Louisville, KY, on Friday April 19, 2024, at 10 am with burial at Calvary Cemetery.
