-

A preliminary hearing is scheduled to be held today for a Ridgway man related to alleged drug trafficking in Elk County.

According to an affidavit of probable cause filed at the office of James L. Martin in Johnsonburg, Allen Edward Weyant, 32, of 17722 Boot Jack Rd., Ridgway, is facing charges in relation to the incident.

On June 4, 2021, an agent from the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, along with Task Force Officers, met in a neutral location for the purpose of purchasing two bundles, or approximately 20 stamp bags, of purported heroin from Weyant through a confidential informant. The purchase was reportedly conducted outside of Weyant’s Ridgway residence, with the purported heroin being paid for using $275 of official pre-recorded Pa. Office of Attorney General funds.

Upon completion of the transaction, laboratory analysis of the purported heroin identified that it contained 0.67 grams of a combination of fentanyl, tramadol, and fluorofentanyl.

On July 1, 2021, agents and task force officers once again attempted to purchase two bundles of heroin from Weyant, this time using $230 of official pre-recorded Pa. Office of Attorney General funds. During the transaction, Weyant provided the confidential informant with 18 stamp bags of purported heroin.

Laboratory analysis identified that the heroin contained .40 grams of a combination of heroin, fentanyl, and fluorofentanyl.

Preliminary arraignment for Weyant was held at 1 p.m. on April 1 before Judge Martin. Weyant is facing two ungraded felony charges of manufacture, delivery, or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver; a third-degree felony charge of criminal use of communication facility; and two ungraded misdemeanor charges of intent to purchase a controlled substance by a person not regulated.

Bail for Weyant was set at $50,000 monetary. Unable to post bail, Weyant was incarcerated at Elk County Prison.

A preliminary hearing for Weyant is scheduled to be held today, April 20, at 2 p.m. before Judge Martin.
