St. Marys woman facing charges following incident at N. St. Marys St. residence

-

A St. Marys woman is currently facing charges following an incident at a North St. Marys Street residence earlier this week where she allegedly forced her way into the residence and then refused to leave, damaging property and injuring one of the tenants in the process.

Ashley Patricia Urmann, 32, of 343 North St. Marys St., St. Marys, is facing charges in relation to the incident, according to a criminal complaint filed at the office of Magisterial District Judge Mark Jacob in St. Marys.

At approximately 1:30 a.m. on Jan. 29, officers with the City of St. Marys Police Department were called to the residence at 619 North St. Marys St., St. Marys, for a report of a burglary in progress.

Upon arrival, the officers discovered Urmann on the front porch of the residence. When asked if she lived at the residence, Urmann reportedly did not respond. One officer remained with Urmann while another spoke with the tenants of the residence, along with several witnesses.

The tenants advised the officer that Urmann had arrived at the residence uninvited and unwelcomed. Urmann reportedly knocked at the door, and when a guest slightly opened the interior door, Urmann allegedly forcibly entered the residence. Urmann was then reportedly told several times to leave but refused.

One of the tenants approached Urmann to remove her, at which point Urmann allegedly struck the tenant in the face, causing a scratch and redness to the tenant's right cheek.

Witnesses reportedly confirmed the allegations.

The tenants of the residence also advised that Urmann had previously been told by police not to return to the residence. This was also confirmed.

The exterior door was reportedly damaged by Urmann when she attempted to gain entry to the residence, with the door's latch no longer working as a result of the damage. The damage was estimated to be less than $250.

It was also noted in the affidavit that Urmann smelled of an alcoholic beverage and had glassy, bloodshot eyes and slurred speech at the time of the incident.

Urmann was taken into custody, and preliminary arraignment was held at 8:40 a.m. on Jan. 29 before Magisterial District Judge Barry D. Brown.

Urmann is facing one first-degree felony charge of burglary – overnight accommodations, person present; one third-degree felony charge of criminal trespass – enter structure; one summary charge of criminal mischief – damage property; one summary charge of harassment – subject other to physical contact; and one summary charge of public drunkenness and similar misconduct.

Bail for Urmann was set at $25,000 unsecured.

A preliminary hearing for Urmann is scheduled to be held at 9:15 a.m. on Feb. 14 before Judge Jacob.
