Luckenbill's Eagle Scout project benefits Bucktail Archers
The Bucktail Archers were the beneficiary of an Eagle Scout project recently completed by a local teen.
Tyler Luckenbill, a member of Troop 199 and current junior at St. Marys Area High School, explained that when he started asking around for ideas for an Eagle Scout project, the Bucktail Archers let him know about their needs, and he thought a project benefitting the organization would be a great way to give back. For his project, Luckenbill constructed eight benches that were each eight feet in length.
“I started working on my project on Dec. 3, 2022, finished building the benches on Dec. 17, and gave the benches to the Bucktail Archers on Dec. 19,” Luckenbill said. “I had a lot of help from my family while building the project and got it done quickly because of their cooperation and help.”
Luckenbill shared that he was pleased with how the benches turned out.
“I believe that my project turned out very well,” Luckenbill said. “The benches I built were superior to the benches they already had, the project had been built quickly, and the beneficiary was very happy with the benches I built.”
Fundraisers and donations helped make the project possible, Luckenbill noted.
“I funded my project from Marianna’s hoagies fundraisers, which I did with my brother, and I sent out letters to businesses asking for donations as well.”
Luckenbill expressed the hope that the benches will benefit the Bucktail Archers organization for years to come.
“I hope that the benches will continue to stay sturdy and firm for the future of the Bucktail Archers and that they will not need to be replaced anytime soon,” Luckenbill said.
Luckenbill also expressed his gratitude to all who helped make the project possible, including his family.
“I once again thank my family very much for their commitment to helping me succeed in building the project and getting me to this point in my life,” Luckenbill said.
