ALDI opening in “early summer,” to bring 15-20 jobs to community

Work on the ALDI store soon to be located at the St. Marys Plaza continues to progress, with the business slated to officially open in the coming months. While an exact opening date remains unavailable, a statement attributed to JR Perry, divisional vice president, indicated that the opening is now set for early summer.

A grand opening ceremony will also take place at that time to commemorate the new store.

According to Perry, ALDI is expected to bring more than a dozen new jobs to the community.

“At ALDI, we streamline our approach to staffing, creating cost-saving efficiencies that are passed onto our customers. The St. Marys store, like each ALDI store, will employ around 15 to 20 people and is currently in the hiring process,” Perry said.

ALDI’s employment website, careers.aldi. us, currently lists five different positions for which candidates are being sought for the new store: part-time stocker, full-time assistant store manager, part-time cashier, part-time store associate, and full-time store associate.

While work continues on both the interior and exterior of the location, no renderings were available related to how the business will look once work has been completed. However, Perry referenced ALDI’s multimedia library and indicated that the St. Marys store will look similar to other ALDI locations.

“The new store will feature open ceilings, natural lighting, and environmentally friendly building materials,” Perry said.

There are currently more than 2,200 ALDI stores located across the United States, and the St. Marys store will join roughly 150 located in Pennsylvania.
