Zane Adiyeh earns first win as head coach of Lady Dutch
Tuesday’s season opener marked the first game with new head coach Zane Adiyeh leading the St. Marys Area Lady Dutch basketball program. The team made sure it was a memorable one as they used a 27-point second quarter to help put the game away for a 63-31 victory over the Brockway Lady Rovers. The win was not only the team’s first of the season, but it was also Adiyeh’s first win as a varsity girls’ basketball head coach.
Following the victory, members of the St. Marys Area High School administration were quick to extend their congratulations to the new head coach.
“Tonight was a great start for the Lady Dutch,” said St. Marys Area High School Assistant Principal Warren Beck. “I am happy for all the girls and for Coach Adiyeh. It is always great to get that first one out of the way, and I think tonight was the first of many.”
St. Marys Area School District Superintendent Dr. Harley Ramsey echoed that sentiment and added that he looks forward to seeing what the future holds for the new head coach and his team.
“I’m extremely proud of Mr. Adiyeh and congratulate him on his first win as Lady Dutch basketball head coach,” Ramsey said. “Mr. Adiyeh has been a welcome addition to our school and community. I expect more great things to follow.”
St. Marys Area Administrator of Athletics and Activities Dominic Surra credited Adiyeh and his team for the hard work they have been putting in.
“It was a good start to the season for Coach Adiyeh and his team,” Surra said. “The Lady Dutch staff and players have been working really hard in preparation for the season, and their hard work is paying off.”
