Lady Crusader jv team brings home 37-17 win over Kane

The Elk County Catholic Lady Crusader junior varsity team brought home a 37-17 win over the Kane Lady Wolves on Monday evening.

No players from either team were in double figures in the game. Sofiya Cherry and Lena Polaski led ECC with eight points each, while

Bailey Thorwart was one back with seven.

Alexa Olmstead was the leading scorer for Kane with seven points, and Lily Wymer scored six.

ECC jumped out to a big 16-point lead in the first quarter, holding Kane scoreless in the frame.

Polaski led the Lady Crusaders with four points on a pair of twos and a pair of foul shots, Rachael Vanslander made a pair of twos, and Cherry, Thorwat, and Arianna Gurosik each added a bucket.

In the second quarter, Kane outscored ECC 10-6, leaving the Lady Crusaders with a 22-10 halftime lead. Olmstead scored six of her points in the frame for the Lady Wolves, while Sara Ely and Lexie Mulcahy each made a bucket. Cherry, Thorwart, and Gurosik each made a field goal for ECC.

The Lady Crusaders posted a 9-5 advantage in the third quarter, increasing their lead to 31-15. Katie Straub led ECC with four points on a pair of twos, Vanslander and Cherry each made a bucket, and Thorwart went one-for-two from the foul line. Wymer made a pair of twos for Kane and Olmstead added a foul shot.

In the final quarter,

ECC outscored Kane 6-2 to leave with the 37-17 win. Chery, Thorwart, and Polaski each made a bucket for the Lady Crusaders, and Wymer made a field goal to account for all of Kane’s points in the frame.
