Rain, snow, and chilly weather conditions resulted in the announcement of more high school sports cancellations on Thursday.

All three of the events that were on St. Marys Area’s athletic schedule for Thursday were washed out. The Flying Dutchmen’s tennis match at DuBois Central Catholic and the junior high Dutch baseball team’s game on the road against Bellefonte were both postponed with new dates to be announced. The junior high girls’ and boys’ track and field meet at Punxsutawney was rescheduled for Thursday, April 11.

Elk County Catholic High School announced cancellations not only for Thursday, but for today, Saturday, and Monday as well.

The only event on Thursday’s schedule for ECC was a home match between the Crusader tennis team and Brockway Rovers. That match will now be played on Wednesday, April 10 at 3:30 p.m. at Benzinger Park.

The ECC baseball and softball teams were both scheduled to be in action today against squads from Bradford, with the Crusaders at home and the Lady Crusaders on the road. Those games were all rescheduled. The ECC baseball team will now play host to Bradford on Tuesday, May 7 at 4:15 p.m. at Berwind Park. The Lady Crusader softball team will travel to Bradford on Tuesday, April 9. The varsity softball team will take on the Lady Owls at 4 p.m. at UPB, with a junior varsity game to be played following the conclusion of the varsity contest.

It was also announced on the SMA Track & Field Facebook page that today’s junior high home meet against Bradford had been cancelled due to poor conditions and a reschedule date had not yet been set.

ECC’s junior varsity softball team was scheduled to be in action in a tournament at Cranberry on Saturday.

That tournament was rescheduled for Saturday, April 20 at Cranberry High School.

The Crusader tennis team was also scheduled to be in action on the road on Saturday against Warren. That match will now be played in Warren on Wednesday, April 24 at 3:30 p.m. at Betts Park.

ECC also announced that four events scheduled for Monday had been postponed or cancelled. All of the events were set to be played on the road. The Crusader tennis team will now travel to Bradford on Friday, April 12 for a 3:30 p.m. match, and the Crusader baseball team and Lady Crusader softball team will now travel to Coudersport

on Tuesday, May 14 for 3:30 p.m. games. The junior varsity softball game that was scheduled for Monday in Coudersport was cancelled and will not be rescheduled.

Thursday’s cancellation announcements marked the third straight day that inclement weather impacted the high school sports schedule.

St. Marys Area High School announced on Tuesday night that due to the weather the Lady Dutch softball team’s home opener against Brookville had been cancelled for Wednesday. A reschedule date has not yet been announced.

On Wednesday afternoon, ECC announced that all of the athletic events on their schedule had been cancelled.

The junior high track and field meet against Kane and North Clarion will now be held on Monday, April 15 at 4 p.m. at ECC.

The Lady Crusader softball game against Brockway will now be played on Thursday, April 18 at 4 p.m. in Brockway. A junior varsity game will follow the varsity contest.

The Crusader baseball team’s home game against Brockway will now be played on Thursday, May 9 at 4:15 p.m. at Berwind Park.
