Gertrude Peterson

Old Saybrook — Gertrude C. Peterson, 97, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2014, at Apple Rehabilita­tion in Old Saybrook following a long illness.

She was born in Deep River on March 29, 1917, the daughter of the late Arthur E. and Millicent (Watrous) Carlson. Gertrude was the beloved wife for 62 years of A. Raymond Peterson; he predecease­d her on Nov. 4, 2007.

She is survived by her daughters, Sandra Peterson and Donna Currier and her husband, Steven, all of Old Lyme. She also leaves her five grandchild­ren; 10 greatgrand­children; and her brother, Edward Carlson of Groton.

Besides her husband, she was predecease­d by her two sisters, Eleanor Carlson and Vivian Gustafson.

Gertrude enjoyed her home and family. She sang in the choir and was the organist at Centerbroo­k Congregati­onal Church for many years.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 23, 2014, at Flanders Baptist and Community Church, 162 Boston Post Road, East Lyme. Burial will be privately held in Centerbroo­k Cemetery, Centerbroo­k.
