AVERY-COPP HOUSE IS OPEN FOR TOURS

The Avery-Copp House will be open to the public for guided tours through Oct. 12.

The historic house, built in the colonial style in the early 1800s and Victoriani­zed at the turn of the century, tells the story of generation­s of an American family that lived there for 200 years, complete with original furnishing­s. Two Victorian gazebos sit above the house on the terraced lawns overlookin­g the Thames River.

The house is at 154 Thames St. in the Groton Bank National Register Historic District and is open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday through Sunday. Admission is $5 for adults; children under 12 get in free.
