Richard Lacey
Sacramento, Calif. — Richard Lacey, born Aug. 10, 1933, passed away from natural causes Saturday, Oct. 31, 2015.
“Dick” was raised in the New London area. After attending Mitchell College, he served in the U.S. Navy and continued involvement with the defense industry throughout his career working at Electric Boat, Newport News Shipbuilding and eventually Aerojet in Sacramento.
In addition to enjoying international business travel, he appreciated touring the United States, painting, gardening, and was an avid sports fan. He was a lifelong New York Yankees devotee. As an active retiree he continued to rise early to share daily coffee and conversation with co-workers from his latest job at the Sacramento Franchise Tax Board. He remained involved with the local VFW and greatly enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s sports each weekend.
He is preceded in death by parents, Wayland and Jane Hedding; and brother, Leonard Lacey.
He is survived by his wife, Suzanne; children, Kelley Gordon (Jim) and stepson Mike Moshier (Marlo), Pat Maillet, Teri Thompson, Rick, Steven and Jonathan Lacey; 11 grandchildren, one great-grandchild; and brothers Charles and Wayland Hedding.
