John Cvejanovich

-

Wilmington, N.C. — John A. Cvejanovich, 62, of Wilmington, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2015, in Wilmington.

He was the son of George J. Cvejanovich Sr., and the late Ruth (Mundinger) Cvejanovich.

Along with his father, he leaves his children, Amanda Grace of Wilmington, N.C. and Robby Curtis Cvejanovich of East Hartford; his twin brother, Robert; two other brothers, George Jr. and Ken; and several sistersin-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. John also leaves his close friend, former wife of 26 years and mother of his two children, BethAnne Curtis, originally of Waterford, now of Carolina Beach, N.C.; as well as his former fatherin-law, Henry F. Curtis Sr. of Waterford; and the rest of the Curtis family.

John was born on May 28, 1953 in Baton Rouge, La., but grew up in Aruba. John graduated from Tulane University in 1974, and from the LSU Law Center in 1977. He practiced law for 35 years, in Louisiana, Massachusetts and Connecticut, retiring to Wilmington in 2013.

John lived his life, as he would say, in the “Key of John,” possessing a Mensa-level IQ, writing and reciting poetry, and developing a keen talent for oil painting. His works now hang in homes from Massachusetts to Texas. In 2011, John suffered serious injuries from a car accident. Sadly, his health problems continued to multiply, causing him to leave us.

There are no calling hours. A celebration of John’s life will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, 2015, at the Wapping Community Church, 1790 Ellington Road, South Windsor; a reception will follow at the Church. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a trust fund for John’s disabled son Robby, to cover his future living and educational expenses. Checks payable to the “Robby C. Cvejanovich Disability Fund” and mailed to Windsor Federal Savings, ATTN: Customer Service Department, 250 Broad St., Windsor, CT 06095, would be most appreciated.

Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home in South Windsor has care of the arrangements.
