Norwich — Peter Shillo, 92, of Norwich, beloved husband of Anna (Abugel) Shillo, passed away on May 22, 2016. He and Anna would have celebrated their 69th wedding anniversar­y on Tuesday, May 24.

Peter was born in Norwich on Aug. 19, 1923, to the late Paul and Nadjezda Shillo. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Force. He was a master mechanic. During his career, he worked at the Norwich Box Shop, Electric Boat, and retired in 1986 from Monsanto at their facility in Stonington, where he worked developing the first of its kind mold for the production of plastic bottles.

As a man of strong faith, he was a lifelong member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church and served as president of the church on several different occasions. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

In addition to his loving wife, Anna, Peter is survived by his children, Gregory (Deborah) Shillo of Bloomfield and Fishers Island, N.Y., Susan (Barry) Egan of Guilford, and Thomas (Dianna) Shillo of Fishers Island. He is also survived by his five grandchild­ren, Kate Shillo and her fiancé, Nicholas Beardsley, Sean Shillo, Bronya Shillo, Lisa Egan, and David Shillo.

Calling hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 25, at the Woyasz & Son Funeral Home, 141 Central Ave., Norwich. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday at St. Nicholas Orthodox Christian Church, 35 Convent Ave., Norwich, meeting directly at church. Interment will be at St. Nicholas Cemetery, Norwich.
