EMPLOYMENT NEWS Joetta Stewart, DDS, has joined the dental health practice of United Community & Family Services in Norwich. Stewart attended the University of Texas San Antonio for her Bachelor’s of Science degree in biology. She received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio. She also served in the United States Air Force.

The Chamber of Commerce of Eastern CT is calling all runners, athletes, and fitness buffs for the Total Life Fitness Challenge on Saturday, Sept. 17, 7:45-10 a.m. at Mohegan Sun’s Thames Garage. The Total Life is a Fitness Challenge that sends participan­ts through a grueling 2+ mile fitness course with obstacles including stairs, tire run, hale bale hurdle, balance beam, traversing walls, and assorted fitness stations. This is a self-challenge event and will not be officially timed. Proceeds raised support the Channel 3 Kids Camp. Admission is strictly limited to 250 participan­ts, with pre-registrati­on strongly encouraged. Suggested donation to participat­e is $20 per individual, $10 for military personnel. HONORS Three of Charter Oak Federal Credit Union’s mortgage officers have been named among the top 10 statewide among credit unions for dollar volume and loan numbers. The second annual “Top Loan Originator­s” survey by the Commercial Record cited Ann Gauthier, Sharon DiMarco and Meg Polubiatko as being in the top of their field.

The Charter Oak loan originator­s were featured in the June edition of The Commercial Record. Rankings were based on loan closings between April 1 of last year and March 31 of this year.

BUSINESS NEWS Essex Boat Works, LLC was purchased in February of 2016 by Richard E. Carlson of Essex. Under the new ownership, the boat yard has added the only 100-ton lift on Eastern Long Island Sound, a yacht sales and brokerage division and expanded service, slips and storage.

Diana Gregory is the controller, Bob Jarrett is director of sales and marketing/managing broker, John Lewis is yard manager and Donna Dean is office manager.
