2 women hurt in Ledyard accident

Ledyard — A two-car, headon accident about 11 a.m. Tuesday sent two people to the hospital with injuries.

According to Ledyard police Lt. Kenneth Creutz, the crash occured in the area of 1010 Long Cove Road. It occurred when one vehicle crossed the road into oncoming traffic, he said.

Both drivers were injured. There were no passengers.

A 51-year-old woman was transported to Backus Hospital and later transferred to Hartford Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. The other driver, a woman in her 20s, was treated and released at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital.

Police were investigating the incident.
