Ruth Forget
Colchester — Ruth (Pineo) Forget, 77, beloved wife of Roland for nearly 60 years, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at home on Monday, Sept. 26, 2016.
Born Feb. 7, 1939 in Attleboro, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Arnold and Margaret (Innes) Pineo.
Ruth and Roland were married on Oct. 27, 1956 in Attleboro, where they started their family before moving to Montville.
Mrs. Forget had worked at Constantine’s Restaurant in Niantic for many years in many capacities. She had also worked for a time as a floral designer at Plant Works in Niantic.
She and Roland retired to Florida for nearly 10 years before returning to Connecticut, settling in Colchester four years ago.
Ruth enjoyed arts and crafts, especially cross stitching, as well as gardening. She had also been a talented bowler and took up golf after moving to Florida.
Most importantly, her memory will be cherished as the loving wife of Roland; devoted mother to her five children (and their spouses), Diane (Don) Bourdeau of Salem, Judith (Kevin) MacDonald of Norwich, Cathleen Wright of Florida, Daniel Forget of Alabama and Timothy (Corinna) Forget, also of Alabama; grandmother to 14; and great-grandmother to 14; and sister to nine. Surviving are Norma Cole of Masschusetts, Robert Pineo of Maine, Bruce Pineo of Illinois, Pamela Porrell of Massachusetts and Susan DiTomasso of Rhode Island.
Predeceased are Arnold Pineo Jr, Margaret “Peg” Wynn, Beverly Houde and Gary Pineo.
Ruth was also an aunt, cousin and friend to many.
The family would like to express the deepest appreciation to Dr. J. Carey Laporte Jr., as well as Ruth’s nurse and aides from Masonicare Hospice, especially Karen, Rose Anne and Diana, for the heartfelt care and concern shared with Ruth and her family during her illness.
A chapel service will be observed at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Road, Colchester. The family will receive guests from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, prior to the service. Entombment will be private in St. Mary Mausoleum, New London.
