Montville — Jean Ann Smith, 78, formerly of Oakdale, entered eternal life on Monday, Feb. 20, 2017, after an 11-yearlong battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

She was born Nov. 14, 1938, in Queens, N.Y., the daughter of the late Eugene and Anna (Kerwieder) Hudson. She was united in marriage to Eugene F. Smith in 1961, in New York, moving to Oakdale in 1963. Mr. Smith died June 6, 2011. Mrs. Smith worked at Sears, in sales, retiring after 20 years of service. She later worked at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital in the coffee shop and volunteere­d in the gift shop. She attended St. John the Evangelist Church in Uncasville.

She is survived by four sons, Daniel Smith and wife, Amy, of Colchester, James Smith and wife, Lori, and Eugene Smith, both of Washington and Ronald Smith of New London; a sister, Rose Marie Wilson of Long Island, N.Y.; six grandchild­ren and three great grandchild­ren.

Her family will receive relatives and friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Impellitte­ri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave., New London. The funeral will assemble at 9 a.m. Friday and proceed to a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., in St. John the Evangelist Church, 22 Maple Ave., Uncasville. Interment to follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Pawcatuck.
