Waterford — Theresa B. Browne, 74, beloved wife of George Browne and mother of Michelle Kavanaugh, passed away surrounded by family and friends on Monday, Feb. 20, 2017, at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital.

She was born May 11, 1942, in Newark, N.J., the daughter of the late Andrew and Viola (Clark) Bodino. Mrs. Browne was employed as a nurse at both Windham Hospital and Uncas on Thames Hospital. After nursing, as well as being a stay-at-home mom, Terry was very active in volunteering for the Catholic Church in the community. For many years, she brought the Eucharist to the elderly in our area and taught catechism to the young.

Terry was warm and loving, enthusiastic and fun-loving. She loved people and never met a stranger. She was nurturing and accepted everyone, helping all without question. Her kindness and caring were second to none, and she was a fighter from the day she was born until the day she died. Her character traits were traits to live by, and will be honored and upheld by her friends and family.

She is survived by her husband, George Browne, together they enjoyed 50 wonderful years of marriage. She is also survived by her daughter, Michelle Kavanaugh of Waterford; two brothers, Joseph Bodino of Scotland, Conn., and John Bodino of Shreveport, La.; a sister, Shirley Plante of Willimantic; and two grandchildren, Conner M. and Aidan L.A. Kavanaugh.

She was predeceased by a sister, Helen Williams.

She was greatly loved and will be deeply missed by all.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Thomas L. Neilan & Sons Funeral Home, 12 Ocean Ave., New London. The funeral procession will assemble at 9:15 a.m. Saturday, at the funeral home and proceed to St. Mary Star of the Sea Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Entombment will follow in St. Mary Mausoleum.
