Leadership behavior
Leaders do not make excuses and take responsibility for their actions.
Norwich Public Utilities General Manager John Bilda’s letter to the city Ethics Commission blatantly illustrates his inability to take responsibility for his actions. Instead, Bilda will drag NPU and the City of Norwich down into the mud with him.
It is irrelevant who knew what and when regarding “Derbygate.” It does not take away from the fact that Bilda continues to display unethical behavior. He has gone from lacking morals and ethics to now lacking dignity.
If he really cared about Norwich and NPU he would apologize and accept his punishment, but instead tantrums, finger-pointing, and racking up lawyers’ fees, all while charging the ratepayer. Soon all city employees may have to complete a mandatory dignity training, thanks to John Bilda, to follow up their ethics training. A “leader” who lacks morals, ethics, and dignity; why does that sound so familiar? Norwich deserves better. Philip Brose Norwich
