John Webster

Mystic — John Davis Webster, 82, of Mystic passed away peacefully at the Westerly Hospital on Friday, March 24, 2017. He is survived by his loving wife, Jane Butson Webster; their children, Andrew, Peter and Sarah; and grandson, Henry.

In addition to his immediate family he is survived by his brother, William (Ruth) Webster of Mystic, and his sister, Ruth (John) Vandegriff of Newfoundland, Pa. He will also be missed by Bob and Mary Ann Butson Chaffet. He had six nieces and three nephews.

He is predeceased by his parents, Fullerton and Elizabeth Webster.

He was a graduate of Columbia College School of Engineering and was employed at Electric Boat for 35 years. He enjoyed working in many departments throughout his career. He also enjoyed an active volunteer life through the Noank Group Homes, Westerly Chorus, Habitat for Humanity, amd Mystic Seaport Shipyard.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 1, at the Congregational Church in Mystic. There will be a private burial with the family. In lieu of flowers, donations in memorial can be made to the Alzheimer Foundation at www.alz.org.
